Banana Bread
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups white flour ( or you can use 1/2 wheat flour & 1/2 white flour)
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 brown sugar
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. vegetable oil (like olive, canola, hydrogenated vegetable oil or any oils)
1/3 cup milk, if it still dry add another 1/3 cup milk
1 egg (beat the egg)
1 cup chopped nuts (I use walnuts)
3 tsp grated orange peel
2 -3 ripe bananas (most of the time I use only 2)
Margarine or butter to grease the loaf pan
Method
Mix all the ingredients together except egg, milk & bananas. Mix well with the spatula. Add the mashed banana and then add 1/3 cup milk. If it is dry add another 1/3 cup milk.Grease the loaf pan and pour. Bake in the oven @ 350 degrees Celcius for 45 - 60 minutes. Poke with toothpick and if the toothpick is clean and nothing was clinging at the side and then it is done.
Basic White Bread
Ingredients
For 1-Pound Loaf2/3 cup - water
4 teaspoons- butter or margarine
3/4 teaspoon- salt
2 cups- all purpose flour
3 tablespoons- nonfat dry milk powder
1 tablespoon- sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons- yeast
Method
Add ingredients to bread machine pan in the order.
Carrot Bread
Ingredients
5 g Margarine/butter
4 dl milk
1 dl Natural yogurt
50 g yeast
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
200 g grated carrots
800 g flour
Method
Melt the butter in a saucepan and add the milk. Pour the mixture into a big bowl and beat in the yogurt. Add the other ingredients (keep a little flour for later). Knead the dough.
Cover with a lid or clean dishcloth, and let rise for one an half hour.
Take the dough out onto board dusted with a little flour and knead thoroughly. Divide the dough in to two and form rounds, cut a cross on top with sharp knife and brush it with beaten egg yolk.
Bake approximately 25 min at 200 c.
Eat as breakfast or can be eaten with chicken/beef curry.
Garlic Bread
Ingredients
6 or 8 garlic cloves
250g butter
2 loaves of whole meal bread
pepper
salt half tea spoon
Method
Preheat the oven to 400 c. Grind the garlic, add the butter, pepper and salt. Grind the mixture. Slice the bread. Spread the mixture evenly on the bread. Bake in the oven till it turns to a brown colour. Serve it hot.
